Our Church
Pastors Jerry and Tami McKinney heard from God. He told them to leave their friends and family in the Northwest and start a church. In 1998 they left the rain and founded City Church in San Diego. They built a great one where people feel loved, encouraged and empowered to fulfill their God given purpose.
God spoke again to our pastors in 2023, to change the church name to Carmel: marking a new chapter of fruitfulness for the church and its members.
Our Pastor
Pastor Jerry is all about helping people live their best life by putting God first. After a near death experience while surfing when he was in High School, he felt led to enter the ministry. Earning his Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern University, he took an unconventional route through Politics and Land Development before becoming a pastor. To this day, one of his favorite things is meeting with the business men in the church. He and Pastor Tami have three sons and 7 grandchildren, their favorite mornings are at Pancake House with the family. They hike to stay active.
Our pastors are known for being genuine, real people of prayer and for having a strong passion for the Bible. With them the basics of Christianity are always fresh and vital.
